PAH Kicks Off Donate Life Month

National Donate Life Month (NDLM) was established by Donate Life America and its partnering organizations in 2003. Observed in April each year, National Donate Life Month helps raise awareness about donation, encourages Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to honor those who have saved lives through the gift of donation.
In 2025, let life sing! Birds are known across many cultures as one of the most welcomed and visible signs of spring. They represent both new beginnings and visits from loved ones who have passed away. The yearly return of birds and their songs offer us a sense of peace and hope. The theme for this year’s celebration is Let Life Sing.
National Donate Life Month is a time to educate about organ, eye and tissue donation, and to honor and remember donors and the lives they have saved and healed. Your decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor gives hope to the 100,000 people on the national organ transplant waiting list who are waiting for a second chance at life.
The Punxsutawney Area Hospital, in collaboration with CORE, launched Donate Life Month with a Flag Raising Ceremony. Attendees were informed about donation statistics and the significant impact of donations by Kristen Stone, Director of Laboratory Services for CORE. Additionally, two employees from PAH, Ben Hughes, a living donor, and Barb Kostok, the mother of a donation recipient, shared their personal stories about how donation has transformed their lives. Throughout April, Punxsutawney Area Hospital will continue to raise awareness about organ donation and its profound effects.
